CRSC is a tax-free monthly payment paid to eligible military retired who have been awarded a Purple Heart.
The amount of CRSC is based on the severity of the disability and the military retired's pay grade.
The service member must also have a combat-related disability by a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) doctor.
combat-related special compensation is paid for life, or until the service member's disability improves to the point.
1- You served in the active military, naval, or air service.
2- You have a physical or mental impairment that is medically diagnosed.
3- Your disability was caused or made worse by your active-duty military service.
CRSC is not a retirement benefit, and it does not reduce the service member's military retirement pay.
